The Diploma of Local Government Administration reflects the role of personnel in Local Government who perform tasks involving a high level of autonomy and requiring the application of significant judgment in planning and determining the selection of resources/roles/techniques for themselves and others. They are required to develop specific practices to ensure the implementation of management systems, plans and policies. They demonstrate the application of a brad range of managerial, coordination and planning skills.

Electives should reflect the responsibilities of the individual and the job skills required for effective performance .

Where a free choice of electives is available these may be drawn from this or other Training Packages to reflect the particular work context or career plans of the individual.  

A total of 10 units are required to achieve the award of Diploma of Government Administration, 4 of which are mandatory core units and 6 are the candidates choice electives .

In addition , choose two electives: from any section of the Local Government Training Package or from any other endorsed Training Package, while ensuring the integrity of the AQF level. The two electives may be imported.
